The Monday Project: I Rock Because….

Rethink Your Shrink, The Monday Project
I know it’s a little difficult for us to toot our own horns, it’s totally ridiculously hard for me, the person who cannot accept a compliment to save her life. But today I’m going to own it because that’s the project and why shouldn’t I?

I ROCK because I have made my life what I want it to be. I did that. And I love my life. In fact, if I left this earth tomorrow, I would have no “would’ve could’ve should’ve’s” in my backpack with me on that next journey. Whatever that is.

I ROCK because (wow this is hard, isn’t it!) I have a “zone.” I can get through any exercise or duration for 2 1/2 hours (preferrably less) by going into this weird “zone” and apparently my face gets all blank because I am completely lost in what I am doing and it works.

I ROCK because I have had two children, two knee operations and I can still rock a triathlon or half-marathon, stretch marks, baby bladder, and zero cartilage in my left knee and all!

I ROCK because with everything inside me I want everyone else to know they rock and that they have a crazy, strong, happy lunatic of a woman waiting to get out and I want them to find her!

I ROCK because I’m the “crazy” friend. I’m the one that my friends’ husbands are afraid of letting their wives go out with. We may or may end up lost at the end of the night having met a zillion people and pretended we were rock stars for the night. Yes, I know I’m someone’s mom. They don’t have to know this.

Wow, girls, this was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be! I must’ve stared at a blank screen for 20 minutes before I started writing! But it feels good, doesn’t it??!! Go us!

i <3 “the zone”. i get it two. but typically mine comes after mile 2.

i love that you made us do this project. for most of us, i think, its easy to comment on other people's blogs, tell them how great they are. but its harder to do the same for ourselves.

can i add one for you? you ROCK because you are kicking our butts with this homework every week and seriously making us rethink things!!

  • Tobey13

Ha, that's what you get for giving us hard homework then finding out it is actually hard but for doing it, you simply Rock! And, go you for Rocking the marathons, triathlons, and all the other thons! You can do anything you want to, no matter what!

You do ROCK! For all the reasons you listed and more. You are truly a gift to the Sisterhood, and I couldn't imagine this place without your shining smile, wonderful can-do attitude, and loving support!

  • DALewis

I love this and I love you. I'm totally the crazy friend as well. Let's be crazy together, shall we hooker? :)

  • reneeakacutiebootycakes

I love the zone. Thank you for having us do this, it was challenging but necessary. Sometimes we just need to pat ourselves on the back. And one day I hope to hang out with the “crazy” mom! We can go crazy together, I love having a good time.

WOW!! nicely done! YEs YOu DO ROCK!!

  • http://thesassymama.blogspot.com Heather

I love that you're the crazy friend. I've been called that too. We just bring out the 'best' in people. And by best, I mean we do what we wanna! Woot!

I just wanted to tell you another reason why you rock – when I read your decade post, about how you were in NYC during Sept 11, it really touched me. I have a family member by marriage who was there as well, but instead of moving on and doing something positive with her life, she has instead decided to turn in on herself and use it as an excuse to leech off the rest of the family. So, girlfriend, I have to say you rock SO hard because you witnessed a huge tragedy, but instead of letting it own you, you owned it.

    Love you, girl!

    You sooo totally ROCK!!
Wow!! No knee cartilage?? I can't even imagine! In fact that's why I can't run….maybe I really can, hum. You've given me something else to aim for in the future!
I'm impressed that you have “no regrets”!

  • Bari_F

You rock, Christio, because you inspire. And like Brooke said, you are kicking our butts with this homework-thank you for that, for reals!

and I can't accept a compliment either, I always come up with a “thanks, but” – why do we do that to ourselves?

  • Nancy

You totally rock. The sisterhood wouldn't be the same without you. I love your reasons for why you rock. Not only do you rock, but you are so totally awesome. p.s. I'm glad to hear that this was hard for you too.

  • FiddlersBride

That crazy kinda friend is MY kinda friend! Can you move to Maryland in 2010? Get on it! : )

You rocked that post! Thanks for sharing with us the ways you rock! I am loving reading these for each of us!

  • tiffanyzook

Your good girl!!!! I have been out of the blog loop for so long. I barely have time to post my lousy results these days let alone read about what's been going on. And it seems I have missed alot. You are now one of the writers for the sisterhood? WOW… I really need to snap out of my time warp!!! Anyway, I love your five reasons on why you rock. I am, like you and many others, the crazy girl husband's are afraid to let their wifes go out with, and I too have a zone. Once I make up my mind to run a certain distance, or light a certain amount of weight etc… there's no stopping me! I need to start pushing myself to the limit again!!!
