Happy World Run Day!

November 8th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Uncategorized |

woooohooooooHappy 5k Day everyone!! What a wonderful day it was to run in knee highs and a headband!

I made it! I beat my time of 31 minutes and made it in: 29:45!!!

Just under a 30 minute 5k!!! I have only dreamt of this day and thought it would really never come. I really don’t even know whose legs I was using except to think that it really must’ve been the socks.

My “group” ended up being just me and my dad. It started out so big and promising and ended in just us, the dynamic duo. Even my husband had to bow out because my son was sick. But honestly, having it just the two of us made it so special. We basked in the fact that it was the very first time he’s ever crossed a finish line in his 50-something years. (See? It’s never too late to start! And  yes, he’s thinking about training for a triathlon, too!) The long-winded full report is here.

daddyandmeI hope everyone had a wonderful run, I can’t wait to read about everyone’s race!

Okay so I am new to shrinkingjeans, so you may have already blogged about this...if so send me a link, please.
I would love to know your experiences with running a race. Any advise...etc.
I am planning on doing a 5k March 6th, and 10k March 20, and a half marathon April 24. I have never ran a race. I don't care about the time right now, I just want to finish (I don't want to be last either.) I am a bit nervous. My BMI is still overweight at the moment, but it should be close to normal by the time I am ready to run the 5k. I am doing a training program to get my fit. I have been exercising regularly since May. I am getting in better shape everyday. Pointers please! :)
